With a background in environmental work and gardening, Pete and Angie Turner bought the present site in mid-Wales in September 2006. The previous owners had let the site go, and it was very overgrown with brambles and weeds covering the entire site. Six months on site has seen a great transformation and now, nestled in amongst the hills, it is a tranquil and inviting place to spend some time.
Previously running a small gardening business near Oswestry, it has always been their dream to open up a site to the public which brings together their passion for gardening and wildlife. All of the plants have been chosen to survive the Welsh weather and many, in conjunction with the Countryside Council for Wales, have been chosen because of their remarkable ability to attract and support wildlife such as butterflies, birds and honey bees.
Between them, they are fully trained in Garden Design, Dry-Stone Walling and Hedgelaying and work together to bring natural elements into peoples’ gardens. They also have a background in environmental and sustainability work and their commitment to sourcing local, organic and Fairtrade food reflects this.
